What is Triosyn® and how does it work?
Patented Triosyn® resin is a unique iodine preparation that harnesses the antimicrobial power of iodine. It controls the delivery and dosage of molecular iodine directly to microorganisms. Triosyn resin is produced by thermally fusing pure iodine crystals under high pressure with a specialized polymer. During this process, a stable electrochemical bond is formed between the iodine and the polymer. This bond serves as a demand-release mechanism that allows molecular iodine to be released from Triosyn resin in the presence of microorganisms. Triosyn is activated by the strong charge of passing microorganisms. This results in the transfer of molecular iodine from Triosyn resin to the charged surface proteins of the microorganism. The iodine immediately oxidizes proteins on the microorganism’s surface, exposing its vital interior components. The microorganism is thereby rendered harmless.

Other competitive products use silver, copper, zinc and triclosan as disinfecting agents. How effective are they in killing microorganisms?
Silver, copper, zinc and triclosan are bacteriostatics. Bacteriostatics only inhibit the growth of microorganisms, allowing for renewed growth when the microbial is reduced or removed.
